The Vanuatu Pacific Games Association marked an important milestone in its preparation for the 2025 Pacific Mini Games with a Team Commissioning Service held on Sunday, June 15, at the Church of the Resurrection (Anglican) in Tagabe, Port Vila.
Led by Chef de Mission Aileen Huri, the delegation included athletes, team managers, and administrative officials, all of whom presented themselves one by one to the congregation. Church members had the opportunity to meet the entire national team, acknowledging the importance of spiritual preparation before their international campaign.
The Team Commissioning is a significant moment for Vanuatu, a nation rooted in Christian faith. It affirms the unity and purpose of the delegation, and signals the official start of the country's journey to the Games and what lies ahead in Palau.
This ceremony also marked the beginning of a series of lead-up events:
Olympic Day, to be held on Friday, June 20, will celebrate sports and values of the Olympic movement
Team Bonding Day, scheduled for Saturday, June 21, will bring the delegation together for final preparations and unity building before departure
VASANOC thanks the Church of the Resurrection for hosting the service and supporting the nation’s athletes. With 12 days to go until the Games, the focus now shifts to final preparations and carrying the national spirit proudly to Palau.
