On Friday March 19th, the Francophonie championships took place at the Korman sports complex. This championship was a meeting between the schools (French speaking for the majority) of Port-Vila. Five of them responded, the Lycée Français, Lycée Montmartre, Lycée Louis Antoine de Bougainville, Ecole de Centre-Ville and Epauto.
This championship was organized by AUF and the University of Vanuatu, VASANOC supported the organization of the tournament with the help of the Volleyball and basketball federations and the support of the SHEFA league of basketball.
The basketball and volleyball tournaments took place at the same moment all Friday afternoon. Each school brought back two teams in each sport. Thus a total of ten teams competed for the Francophonie trophy.
For 3x3 Basketball the podium is:
Centre-Ville
Epauto
Lycée LAB
For volleyball the podium is:
Lycée LAB #2
Epauto
Lycée LAB#3
Centre-Ville school is therefore the Francophonie champion for 3x3 basketball and Lycée LAB for volleyball. We hope they will be there next year to put their title back on the line.
We are proud to have collaborated with AUF for this event and hope more like it will follow.
