Vanuatu Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee( Vanuatu) had the pleasure to welcome and meet the new Minister of Youth and Sport, Francois Chani at VASANOC house on Wednesday.
He was accompanied by his First Political Advisor, Mrs Maturine Carlot-Tary, DG Henry Vira and Acting Director, Johnson Toa and Sport Commission staff.
All the National Sport Federations were invited and those present were: Athletics, Archery, Aquatics, Boxing, Cricket, Darts, Golf, Football, Rowing, Squash, Judo, Volleyball, Netball, Table Tennis, Tennis and Weightlifting. Vanuatu Paralympic Committee.
Main topic of discussion were the Priorities for MYSDT, Actions from Last Meeting with MYSDT, Sports Facilities updates, bid for 2027 Pacific Games, memorandum of understanding between MYSDT and VASANOC and brief updates from National Federations.
VASANOC also handed over VASANOC Technical and Financial Report on the Samoa 2019 Pacific Games and recent Annual and Audit Reports to the Ministry.
The handover was done by VASANOC President Boudier to Minister Francois Chani.
Chani emphasized the need to work together as one team to build Vanuatu youth through sport. This was agreed upon by the meeting.
VASANOC said it is grateful to the Minister for his first visit to VASANOC Haus and also to the Ministry and Department of Youth and Sports Development, Sports Commission and the National Federations for being present.
Such meetings between MYSDT, VASANOC and the National Federations were initiated by DG Henry Vira early this year and will be an ongoing event in our annual sport calendar.
