Updated: Jul 28, 2021

As every year the VASANOC organizes the Olympic Day. This year is therefore no exception as it was held on Saturday June 26 at Independence Park of Port-Vila.

Vanuatu is one of the few countries that could organize Olympic Day without worrying about Covid-19 or social distance. Already last year we were one of the few countries to organize an event! Most countries have had to restrict themselves to doing it online. This year again we were lucky to be able to organize this by bringing together as many people as possible.

The event started Saturday morning at 7am, families came around with their children. At 7:30am, the president of VASANOC Antoine Boudier gave a welcome speech and read the message from Thomas Bach the International Olympic Committee president. Williams Worworkon the chef de mission for Tokyo 2021 presented the Olympic team that will travel in a few weeks to represent Vanuatu at the Olympic Games.

After that, the fun run could begin. It started from Independence Park via Maukoro street toward Ecole Colardo back along the Ave Edmond Coldardo to Tropical Market round about and down the Winston Churchill towards PMC church and back to Independence Park.

After the run, the kids were able to try as many sports as possible since there were about ten federations wich attended. They played all morning in joy and happiness. All together under the Olympic values.

We would like to thanks all the federations that took part of this celebration and especially: AFL, Aquatics, Athletics, Cricket, Hockey, Judo, Netball, Rowing, Rugby Academy, Tennis, and Volleyball.

A special thank you to the Department of Internal affair, the Vanuatu Athlete Commission, the police, the Japanese Ambassador, and 107FM.
