Vanuatu Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (VASANOC) will host Sports Nutrition and Sports Injury Prevention and Management training this month to assist and up skill coaches.
Both trainings will be held at VASANOC house on January 14-16 and from January 24-27 respectively.
Sports Nutrition training will be facilitated New Zealand Registered Dietitian and an Advanced Accredited Sports Dietitian Rachel Scrivin who is also a Director for Megabite.
Megabite is the amazing Online Nutrition Education website with courses for Dieticians and Nutritionists seeking evidence-based nutrition research for continuing professional development, as well as for athletes and the general public to improve their nutrition knowledge.
Rachel has over 20 years of experience in Clinical Dietetics in NZ, UK and UAE. Private Practice and Government. She is a regular Sports Nutrition presenter for Sports Medicine conferences in the Middle East and Gulf region.
“I believe that with this nutrition training which covers main topics such as What is Sports Nutrition and Sports Specific Nutrition and Special considerations will be of great benefit to the coaches.
“As they will have a better understanding and knowledge in advising their athletes regarding the types of food to take and when and what amount to take so they maintain their fitness and hopefully perform and achieve better results,” Scrivin said.
VASANOC is asking NFs to send a coach to the Sports Nutrition training and contact James Malau on 23230 to reserve place for their representative.
Following the 2017 Mini Games and the 2019 Pacific Games VASANOC is now taking a different approach to build and up skill coaching staff and trainers of national teams in areas that are not sports specific but are essential in training and improve athlete performance.
Coaches are qualified in their specific sporting areas but need assistance in other areas that will help their athletes to perform and achieve better results. Areas such as injury prevention and management as well nutrition intakes
In November last year, coaches and Development officers did a First Aid training with the Nightingale Medical Services.
